Let’s take a closer look at all the bangs and whistles the BlackBerry Z10 has to offer.
BlackBerry Z10: First, the Specs
At first glance, the most noticeable feature in the new Z10 is something that it lacks: a clunky plastic keyboard that was standard issue with all other BlackBerry phones. While these keyboards were great in, say 2003, they are not what today’s average smartphone user needs. Instead, the Z10 makes a full entrance into the smartphone market by sporting a full touch screen of 4.3 inches.
Additionally, the phone comes with 16 GB of internal storage, 1280 x 768 resolution, and 4G capabilities. The dimensions are 5.12 x 2.5 inches, and 0.35 inches thick, so it fits well in your hand without being awkward.
BlackBerry 10 OS: Gestures and More
For the BlackBerry Z10 price, you don’t just get a cool-looking phone, but also a complete update to the OS. The new BlackBerry 10 OS has been getting rave reviews and represents a massive overhaul from the previous version found on older BlackBerry phones.
For example, you can now access a set of shortcuts within the interface called the Gestures, which are specialized finger motions onscreen. For example, you can swipe downward to reach the settings menu or swipe across to change programs, regardless of which apps you have open and running at the time.
You can also tap at the bottom of the screen to access the Hub. The Hub is where all of your messages and notifications, everything from tweets to texts to Facebook updates, can collect in one place. That way, you can always find everything there instead of browsing through lists of different apps.
Time-Shift Camera Equals Better Pictures
Aside from an 8 megapixel camera, the BlackBerry Z10 offers excellent camera software as well. Not only will you be able to geo-tag your photos and upload them immediately to Facebook, but the camera also allows you to take several very quick shots and then splice the best parts of each to create one perfect shot.
That’s a great feature to use if you take a lot of group photos, where everyone wants to look their best.
Spare Battery Equals Extra Power
Finally, the BlackBerry Z10 comes with a removable battery, which is a rarity in the smartphone world. Since smartphones often need to be charged each day, you can keep your Z10 going long after those iPhones need to be plugged in. Just pop in a spare battery and you’re good to go!
